NethWorks.cz 2010 představí Rembrandta i nejmladší generaci progresivních umělců z Nizozemska
Nejen současné umění, ale i díla starých mistrů či projekty přibližující rozličné podoby společnosti v Nizozemsku tvoří programovou osu druhého ročníku Festivalu nizozemské kultury – NethWorks.cz 2010. Ten začne již v polovině září vernisáží výstavy World Press Photo 2010 a vyústí na konci října několika čteními, projekcemi a koncerty.
Šíři a pestrost přehlídky, zastřešující řadu zavedených festivalů a pravidelných akcí, nejlépe dokládá výtvarné umění. Pod hlavičkou NethWorks.cz 2010 totiž proběhne například přednáška jednoho z nejvýznamnějších odborníků na Rembrandtovo dílo, Garyho Schwartze, ale i výstava autorky střední generace, minimalistky Els Moes, či prezentace zástupkyň nastupující umělecké vlny skrytých pod značkou NICOLAENROOS. Silně bude v rámci NethWorks.cz 2010 zastoupena architektura a design, stejně jako performing arts – především díky festivalu 4+4 dny v pohybu či nultému ročníku Mezinárodního festivalu divadla se sociálním přesahem Akcent v pražské Arše.
„Oproti loňsku jsme do NethWorks.cz zahrnuli i akce, jež se bezprostředně netýkají umění, ale jsou součástí naší kultury a společnosti – podnikání, společenské vědy a doprava,“ vysvětluje Bas Wels, vedoucí tiskového a kulturního oddělení Velvyslanectví Nizozemského království v Praze, jež je hlavním pořadatelem festivalu NethWorks.cz 2010. Proto jsou v letošním programu zahrnuty například i Dny NATO v Ostravě, 61. Mezinárodní astronautický kongres v Praze nebo diskusní vystoupení v rámci Fora 2000 v Praze. Návštěva původem amerického kunsthistorika, přes 40 let působícího v Nizozemsku, Garyho Schwartze patří k velkým lákadlům NethWorks.cz 2010. Uznávaný vědec přijede 7. října do Prahy na pozvání Národní galerie. Ta na příští rok chystá výstavní projekt Rembrandt a přátelé. Oslava nizozemského malířství v Praze bude zahrnovat také výjimečnou zápůjčku Rembrandtova Orientálce z amsterodamského Rijksmusea. S tím souvisí i název Schwartzovy přednášky: O Rembrandtových obrazech orientálních mužů.
Nejčerstvější nizozemské umění pak představí veřejnosti den poté, 8. října, dvojice mladých autorek - Nicola Kirkaldy a Roosmarijn Mascini. Tři měsíce v rámci mezinárodního rezidenčního programu tráví tyto dvě umělkyně vystupující jako NICOLAENROOS v pražské MeetFactory. Vyústěním jejich tvůrčího pobytu bude výstava v prostorách MeetFactory, jejímž kurátorem je Dušan Zahoranský. Podle slov samotných autorek budou v prostorách MeetFactory k vidění díla pojmenovávající rozdíly mezi skutečností a iluzí či dojmy.
Díla dvou nizozemských umělců střední generace - fotografa Erwina Olafa a malíře Terryho Rodgerse – pak vybral kurátor Otto M. Urban na rozsáhlou a očekávanou výstavu Decadence Now! Za hranicí krajnosti v pražském Rudolfinu. Olafova loňská expozice v Langhans Gallery byla jedním z programových pilířů NethWorks.cz 2009, Terry Rodgers je zastoupený amsterodamskou TORCH Gallery. Prvně jmenovaného rodáka z Amsterodamu reprezentuje v Rudolfinu několik děl z cyklu Královská krev. Rodgerse pak představuje monumentální fotorealistické plátno, v němž dokonalá a smyslná těla modelů a modelek jakoby ze zákulisí extravagantních večírků kontrastují s jejich zahleděností do sebe samých.
Pravým opakem Rodgersových hedonistických pláten jsou práce nizozemské umělkyně Els Moes, která se představí v novém výstavním prostoru Brno Gallery CZ na Malinovského náměstí v Brně. Od 14. října do 26. listopadu zde budou k vidění její vizuálně působivé struktury povětšinou monochromních ploch, které mění svůj charakter v důsledku změn světelných podmínek i úhlu divákova pohledu.
Ještě dříve, konkrétně 5. října, začne v Brně výstava nizozemského komiksu nazvaná Utrechtská oranžáda. Vystavovat se bude hned na třech místech: v Knihovně Jiřího Mahena, Brněnském kulturním centru – Galerie G2 a Sále Břetislava Bakaly. Na jmenovaných místech bude k vidění tvorba komiksových autorů z Utrechtu, partnerského města Brna. V Sále B. Bakaly 6. října proběhne i projekce krátkých komiksových filmů z tvorby vystavujících umělců.
Oblast architektury a designu bude reprezentovat řada známých jmen, například grafický designér Radim Peško věnující se typografii jako průsečíku mezi technologiemi a jazykem, tvorbě nových fontů a rovněž edukační, výstavní a vydavatelské činnosti. Jeho přednáška se uskuteční 15. října v pražském Fotograf studiu. Dále pak hostem hojně navštěvovaného Designbloku bude jeden z nejúspěšnějších nizozemských designérů Richard Hutten. V rámci konference Forum 2000 vystoupí W. J. Neutelings, autor řady oceňovaných staveb v Nizozemsku, jehož jméno je známo nejen mezi architektonickou obcí. Doprovodné akce se uskuteční i na Fakultě architektury ČVUT.

NethWorks.cz 2010 present Rembrandt as well as the youngest generation of progressive artists from the Netherlands
Not only contemporary art, but also the works of old masters or projects presenting various forms of culture and society in the Netherlands are included in the programme of the second Festival of Dutch Culture - NethWorks.cz 2010. The festival will already start in mid-September together with the opening of the World Press Photo 2010 exhibition in Prague and will finish with several readings, film screenings and concerts in the end of October.
The breadth and variety of the manifestation, which connects various established festivals and regular events is best demonstrated by fine arts. For example the following events will be organized within the course of NethWorks.cz 2010: a lecture of Gary Schwartz, who is one of the most important experts on Rembrandt’s work, further an exhibition of the middle generation representative, the minimalist artist, Els Moes at the Brno Gallery CZ or the presentation of the rising artistic generation under the name NICOLAENROOS at the MeetFactory in Smíchov. Architecture and design and also performing arts will be strongly represented during NethWorks.cz 2010 – most of all thanks to the 4 +4 days in motion festival or within the programme of the pilot year of the AKCENT Festival - international theatre festival with social outreach at the Archa Theatre in Prague.
"Compared to last year, NethWorks.cz 2010 include also events that do not directly refer to art but are part of our culture and society - business, social sciences and transport," explains Bas Wels, Head of Press and Cultural Department of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Prague, which is the initiator and organizer of the NethWorks.cz 2010 festival. And that’s why this year’s programme includes also events such as the NATO Days in Ostrava or the 61th International Astronautical Congress and discussions and presentations within Forum 2000 conference, both in Prague. The visit of the American art historian Gary Schwartz, who has lived more than 40 years in the Netherlands, is one of the many attractions of NethWorks.cz 2010. He has been invited by the National Gallery and will arrive to Prague on the 7th of October. The gallery is for next year preparing an exhibition project “Rembrandt and friends”. This celebration of Dutch painting in Prague will also involve an important painting by Rembrandt, “Old man with turban” that will be borrowed from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This corresponds to the title of Schwartz’s lecture: “The Rembrandt's paintings of oriental men”.
One day later, on October the 8th, the most contemporary Dutch art will be publicly presented by two young artists - Nicola Kirkaldy and Roosmarijn Mascini. These two artists creating under the name NICOLAENROOS are spending three months at the MeetFactory in Prague in the framework of an international Artists in Residency programme. The result of their residential stay will be an exhibition at the MeetFactory, curated by Dušan Zahoranský. “Our work is based on the division between reality and appearance. We compare different ways of presentation and design to décor and sets,” comment the authors on their work.
The extensive and expected exhibition “Decadence Now! Visions of Excess” at the Rudolfinum Gallery, which is curated by Otto M. Urban, will present works of two Dutch artists of the middle generation: photographer Erwin Olaf and painter Terry Rodgers. Olaf’s last year's exhibition at the Langhans Gallery was one of the corner stones of the program of the NethWorks.cz 2009 festival. Terry Rodgers represents the TORCH Gallery, Amsterdam. The first mentioned artist from Amsterdam is represented by a few pieces from his Royal Blood series. Rogers is presenting his monumental photorealistic canvases where perfect and sensual bodies of models, both male and female in a backstage of extravagant parties contrast with their status of being wrapped up in themselves.
A true contrary of the hedonistic Rodgers’ canvases is the work of the Dutch artist Els Moes who will be presented at a new exhibition space at the Brno Gallery CZ at Malinovský Square in Brno. From the 14th of October till the 26th of November 2010 one can enjoy her visually impressive paintings of structures of mainly monochromatic surface which changes its character accordingly to changing light conditions and visual angel of viewers.
At the beginning of October, specifically on the 5th of October, an exhibition of Dutch comics called Utrechtská oranžáda will start in Brno. It will take place at three different locations. Comics artists from Utrecht, the partner city of Brno, will present their work at the Jiří Mahen Library, Brno Cultural Center - Gallery G2 and Břetislav Bakala Hall. On the 6th of October also an overview of short comics films made by the exhibiting authors will be screened at the Břetislav Bakala Hall.
Architecture and design will be represented by several famous representatives, such as the graphic designer Radim Peško who deals with the typography as an intersection of technologies and language. Peško designs new fonts and has several educative, curatorial and publishing activities. His lecture will take place on the 15th of October at the Fotograf Studio in Prague. The frequently visited Designblok will host one of the most successful Dutch designers Richard Hutten. Not only among experts and professional architects is W.J. Neutelings a well known name. This author of many awarded buildings in the Netherlands will take part in the programme of Forum 2000 conference. Other accompanying events will also take place at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech technical University.
The festival NethWorks.cz 2010 is organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in cooperation with partner organizations from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
