Režisér Hans Hulscher nejen o Nizozemském tanečním divadle
Hans Hulscher se narodil v roce 1939 v indonéském městě Bandung, kde vyrůstal až do počátku padesátých let 20. století, pak odešel do Holandska. Od svých osmnácti let studoval elektrotechniku, pak vykonával vojenskou službu. Od roku 1963 pracoval po deset let v Holandské televizní společnosti (Duch Broadcasting Company) jako video-inženýr, brzy se začal specializovat na experimentální programy. Po roce 1973 se sám stává aktivním režisérem televizní a filmové produkce v kulturní oblasti, nejdříve pracuje až do roku 2001 jako člen týmu NOS/NPS kulturní redakce a v současnosti je režisérem na volné noze. Byl po několik let televizním režisérem cyklu Vánočních koncertů Eurovize s Bernardem Haitinkem, který dirigoval Královský orchestr Concertgebouw, Novoročních koncertů s Berlínskou filharmonií řízenou Claudiem Abbadem, zaznamenal většinu choreografií Jiřího Kyliána v Nizozemském tanečním divadle (Nederlands Dans Theater), operní inscenace režisérů Pierra Audiho, Willyho Deckera a Harryho Kupfera a režíroval rovněž mnoho živě vysílaných koncertů pod širým nebem.
Na festivalu Zlatá Praha byl oceněn dvakrát: nejdříve za Sinfoniettu /1982/ a pak za operu Dítě a kouzla /1987/. Za svou režijní práci získal Hans Huscher řadu dalších ocenění. Jmenujme namátkou Bella figura v choreografii Jiřího Kyliána na IMZ Dance Screen 1999, Prsten Nibelugův /2000/ od Netherlands Academy Award, Vosková křídla (Wings of Wax 2009) na Prix Italia v kategorii televizní výkonná umění,
Mezi pozoruhodné dokumenty vytvořené Hansem Hulscherem se řadí portréty amerického autora Paula Bowlese, nizozemského spisovatele a básníka Jana Slaerhoffa, dirigenta Bernarda Haitinka, choreografa Jiřího Kyliána, malíře a hudebníka Waltera Spiese a také okázalou televizní výpověď o obrovském dvojitém kremačním rituálu na ostrově Bali.

Director Hans Hulscher: More than just about the Nederlands Dans Theater
Hans Hulscher was born in 1939 in Bandung, Indonesia. There he grew up until 1950, when he moved to Holland. From 1957 until 1961 he studied electronics and afterwards completed his military service. From 1963 till 1973 he worked for the Dutch Broadcasting Company as a video-engineer, quickly specialising in more experimental programs. From 1973 he has been active as a director of cultural television and film productions at first as a staff member of NOS/NPS Cultural Department until 2001, and since then as a free-lance director.
He has been the director of among other lauded productions as the series of Eurovision Christmas Day concerts with Bernard Haitink conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the New Year´s Eve concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Claudio Abbado, most of Jiří Kylián´s choreographies for Nederlands Dans Theater, opera productions by such directors as Pierre Audi, Willy Decker and Harry Kupfer, as well as many live oper-air concerts.
He has twice been awarded the Grand Prix at the International Television Festival Golden Prague, first for his work Sinfonietta /1982/ and then for his work on the opera L´Enfant et les Sortilèges /1987/. Hans Hulscher has earned numerous prestigious awards for his work as a director. To mention only a few, they include the Bella figura in the Choreography of Jiří Kylián at the IMZ Dance Screen 1999, Netherlands Academy Award in 2000 for his Der Ring des Nibelungen, and the Prix Italia in the TV performing Arts category in 2009 for Wings of Wax.
Included among the documentaries conceived by Hulscher are portraits of American author Paul Bowles, Dutch writer and poet Jan Slauerhoff, conductor Bernard Haitink, choreographer Jiří Kylián, painter/musician Walter Spies, as well as a flamboyant account of a huge double ritual cremation on the island of Bali.
